Given the current circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, it’s important now more than ever to stay connected, inspired and engaged as a design community during this period of isolation. Let us introduce you to some of the JRF team and how they are adapting to #workingfromhome and continuing business as (un)usual.
Name: Callum Lodding
Job title: Business Development Manager
Location: Melbourne, Victoria
How are you adapting to the WFH lifestyle?
I think it’s safe to say I have adapted now. The first couple of weeks were confusing but now I’m used to it. I’m lucky enough to live in a spacious home with my partner and housemates that allows me to separate my ‘work life’ with my ‘home life’.
Talk us through your WFH set up?
Again, I feel very lucky to live where I am. My home was previously an Architects – with a fully equipped (enormous) home office big enough for myself, and my housemates all to have dual screens, and create an office environment.
How do you stay motivated throughout the day?
I stay motivated by sticking to my routine as much as possible. I get up, make the bed, get dressed as though I’m going to work (+Ugg boots), make a coffee and then sit down with my new colleagues (housemates) who work in Branding, Education, HR, & Geology. Weather permitting my partner and I will take Apple, my rescue Greyhound, to the dog park by our house in Carlton North.
What keeps you inspired during isolation?
All the beautifully branded labels I’m seeing on my wine bottles.
What are you doing to stay active?
Little home workouts on the balcony to obnoxiously loud PT’s on YouTube. I’ve just recently received a delivery of resistance bands making things a little more interesting.
What is the thing you miss most about ‘normal’ life?
Sitting on the top deck at the Marquis of Lorne.
Favourite furniture piece from your home?
My vintage Wassily Chair. I love most modernist items… the uglier the better.
What are you reading at the moment?
I’m not much of a reader, but I love a good coffee table book. My newest being ‘Resident Dog’ by Nicole England which is a combination of dogs in the most beautifully designed homes.
Favourite artwork in your home?
This beautiful print by Adam Bryce @adam_c_bryce, currently getting framed at the moment though.
Which piece from the JRF collection do you wish you had at home with you?
The Ozz lamp designed by Paolo Cappello for Miniforms.
