We always knew this year was going to be big but when putting this wrap up together and seeing it all in the one place, it really put things into perspective. The quality of projects, collaborations and product launches we have worked on this year; in addition to the incredible people we’ve met, partnered with, entertained and interviewed; as well as the events we were lucky enough to host or be a part of, have kept us engaged and inspired every day. On reflection, 2022 has been bigger and more exciting than we could have imagined…
On behalf of the JRF team, thank you to our incredible clients for trusting us with your projects and partnering with us to bring your creative vision to life with quality, fit for purpose furniture that will stand the test of time.
We hope you enjoy looking back on some of our notable moments from 2022…
_Milan Design Week Dinner 2022
Milan Design Week 2022 was a complete sensory overload. The energy, hustle, bustle and passion of the city were electric! Following the cancellation of Milan’s pre-eminent design festival in 2020 and its smaller, more intimate iteration the following year saw an abundance of inspiration bursting from every direction. It was incredible to catch up with our suppliers after such a long time and see our new releases in the flesh. The creativity, colour, vibrance and love of design that transforms Milan is so magical.
_Melbourne Design Week
We hosted a panel discussion at Space & Time as a part of NGV’s Melbourne Design Week. Cassie Hansen moderated a panel of industry leaders, Ryan & Byron from Russell & George, Adam D’Sylva, Ronnen Goren from Studio Ongarato and our very own Georgia Danos to discuss the impact design has on the hospitality industry.
_The Eat Drink Design Awards Shortlist Announcement (Sydney 2022) & The Eat Drink Design Awards Ceremony (Melbourne) 2022
We were extremely honoured to be the principal partner for the 2022 Eat Drink Design Awards and continue our partnership with Cassie Hansen and the team at Architecture Media. The EDDA is an incredible platform that recognises our world-class hospitality and design community.

From our first collaboration with Ross Didier, the rD collection, we now proudly represent the complete Didier collection, Steelotto, Remington Matters, Remy Woodcock and our most recent collaboration – the Aplos collection with Helen Kontouris.

Our Captain of Industry Edits
The Bates Smart Edit w/ Mark Healey
Mark joined Bates Smart in 2003, spending his early years in the company working abroad on large-scale hospitality projects in the UK and Asia. On his return, he became the lead interior designer on the award-winning project of Royal Children’s Hospital and has since gone on to lead exemplary healthcare projects such as Tweed Valley Hospital, Bendigo Hospital and the Gandel Wing at Cabrini Hospital.
Mark is a true Captain of Industry in the healthcare sector and was an integral part of the design process of our latest brand, Aplós. His wealth of knowledge ensured the collection was fit for purpose and filled the gap in the market for aged-care-focused furniture.
The Fiona Lynch Office Edit w/ Fiona Lynch
Fiona Lynch Office was founded in 2013. Fiona Lynch is recognised for her artistic approach to interiors and use of materials and colour in the residential, commercial, institutional and hospitality projects she and her studio undertake.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, the studio hinges on its use of natural materials and sculptural elements, harmonisation of the raw and refined, and tactical and inventive use of space.
We are proud to have collaborated with FLO for several projects around Melbourne, including Bar Lourinhã x NGV and Landmark by Lexus at Flemington Racecourse.
The Luchetti Krelle Edit w/ Rachel Luchetti and Stuart Krelle
Luchetti Krelle is an award-winning Sydney-based architecture and interior design firm established by Stuart Krelle and Rachel Luchetti. Although Luchetti Krelle maintains a diverse portfolio, its primary focus is the hospitality sector.
Stuart and Rachel thoughtfully curated their top 14 JRF products; shared their secrets to a long-standing business partnership (nearly 15 years!) and what attracted them to hotel and hospitality design.
LAUNCHED NEW BRANDS AND COLLECTIONS…
Remington Matters
We were very excited to introduce a new Australian brand to join our JRF offering; Remington Matters is a multi-disciplinary design and production studio comprised of industrial designers, graduate architects and furniture makers across Adelaide and Perth. The studio creates unique and interesting products that are highly functional for residential and commercial settings.
Remington Matters designed an exclusive collection for JRF comprising chairs, bar stools, low stools and custom tables.
Aplos by Helen Kontouris
We were thrilled to present Aplós: our inspired collaboration with renowned designer Helen Kontouris this year.
Simon Cross and Helen Kontouris, in 2017, founded Aplós. Backed by more than two decades of expertise in the industry, Helen’s approach to Aplós was inspired by a desire to create enduring designs for breathtaking environments.
Not only is this collection visually striking, but each product focuses on supporting the complex needs of modern interior environments and the individuals that use them.
Every product is meticulously crafted with a distinct visual identity and emotional resonance. Steeped in its ability to reflect contemporary culture, Aplós celebrates authenticity, genuine craftsmanship and the designer’s creative sensibility to our ever-changing spaces.
Steelotto
Continuing to add to our local portfolio, we introduced Steelotto to the JRF offering. Steelotto is an Australian design brand created by Alexander Cummins and Remy Cerritelli, curating design objects and furniture collections. Under the creative direction of Effoe Design Office, they diversify Australian design by offering unique aesthetics that embrace radical design movements. Steel is their defining material, taking advantage of steel’s quality and local manufacturing’s value.
The Apparel Collection by Didier
Inspired by the world of Haute Couture, Ross Didier’s Apparel seating collection creates a visual signature and an enveloping, sensory experience of formal luxury. The belted waistline, the sculpted torso, precision-engineered patterns, leg highlights, lapel detailing, and each piece’s ability to be uniquely personalised through the selection of beautiful fabrics.
Soda Table by Miniforms – New colour release
This year, Miniforms presented the Soda in two new colours: Amethyst and Blue, to accompany the original shades of Petrol and Amber.
The TON 822 Collection
TON introduced the exciting 822 collection by the architecture and design studio Claesson Koivisto Rune. It takes inspiration from Josef Hoffmann’s 1930 design of the modernist A811 model, with the Swedish creators extending the design toward contemporary Scandinavian minimalism.
JRF wishes you a wonderful and safe Festive Season, and may the New Year be filled with good health and happy and prosperous times.
We look forward to working with you in 2023 for another exciting year ahead!
