It was an absolute honour to host the 2021 Eat Drink Design Awards in our showroom last night.
Congratulations Cassie Hansen and Architecture Media on the 10th year of EDDA.
We think it goes without saying, the smiles on everyone’s faces says it all – the design community was very happy to all be together again last night!
The JRF DNA is enmeshed in the hospitality industry. In 1956, when our founder, David Mandie imported the original Michael Thonet bentwoods into Australia for the first time, our original customers were restaurants, pubs, clubs and hotels – and our love of the industry has never wavered. Our brand partner TON is celebrating its 160th birthday this year and our guests experienced an exhibition and some amazing vintage pieces marking this milestone.
We celebrated all things design and hospitality. Recognising the incredible collaborations between hospitality visionaries and design luminaries and the remarkable work that has been created, especially under the most challenging of recent circumstances.
Congratulations to all the winners and commendations. It was especially exciting to see some of our JRF project partners acknowledged for their incredible work.

Over the past 2 years we have truly missed visiting new venues or our favourite spots.
So last night at the 2021 Eat Drink Design Awards we wanted to spoil our guests and take them on a culinary tour of Melbourne.
Our guests enjoyed specialities from award nominees Society, Poodle, Hazel, Dessous, Hero ACMI, Gimlet at Cavendish House, Chancery Lane, Nick & Nora’s and hotspots Supernormal, Yakimono, Coda and Boca Gelato.
Thank you to all these incredible venues and especially Cassie Lucas from Firecracker Event – they really are the best in the business!
Thank you everyone who attended and we missed those from interstate that couldn’t make it.
Until next time …
