Last week we were honoured to collaborate with The Local Project to host a very special evening at the Sir Roy Grounds House in Melbourne to celebrate local design as well as the release of The Local Project’s tenth print publication.
The iconic Sir Roy Grounds House is a paragon of Australian modernism, designed over 70 years ago, in the early 50s, as the personal home of Sir Roy and his wife Betty. It received the Victoria Architecture award in 1954 and is largely considered to be the liveable prototype for one of our most incredible public buildings – Grounds’ National Gallery of Victoria.
On a personal level, this house is very dear to our Creative & Brand Director, Georgia Danos as she was lucky enough to be its custodian for six years.
The best design has subliminal powers – it can transport, inspire and provoke… At JRF we’re continually dedicated to the collaborations that unlock these powers – to see our part in this outcome reinforces that dedication. The Australian Design scene is world class. We are in constant awe of the work that our design community produces.
Over the last number of years at James Richardson Furniture, we have embraced the incredible talent that is right here on our doorstep. From our very first collaboration with Ross Didier, the rD collection, we now proudly represent the full Didier collection, Steelotto, Remington Matters, Remy Woodcock and our most recent collaboration – the Aplos collection with Helen Kontouris.
No one knows local design better than Aidan and the team at The Local Project. It is such an exciting, dynamic and inspiring publication and those who are published on your pages are honoured and those who aren’t yet, aspire to be. We couldn’t think of a better person to collaborate with for this event.
Thank you Aidan and for those of you who made our event one to remember!
