Gunzel - formerly derogatory, the word gunzel originated from the Sydney Tramway Museum in the 1960s as a term for the harebrained rail fans from south-of-the-boarder ; ‘the Victorians’, who shot at things with cameras. Believed to derive from the American slang gunsel (“gangster or hoodlum who uses a gun”), popularised in books such as The Maltese Falcon in which a gunsel was implied to be somewhat foolish and reckless. Engineered is solid timber, the Gunzel seating collection is designed with a smart and formal geometry, but retains an organic comfort that is sculpted into the backrest. Optional leather and fabric seat pads which sit flush within the framing and detailed with saddle stitching.
